Because you all loved to hate our last post about people loving to hate Anne Hathaway, here’s another one to help rev your rage engines.
James Franco, the man whose stoner demeanor is equally famous on-screen and off-screen, has opened up about the science behind all the fan hate directed at the Les Mis actress. And, it being James Franco and all, the explanation was pretty dazed and confused.
The Hathahater discussion happened rather unwillingly during an episode of Howard Stern’s SiriusXM show.
Franco, as you recall, is a pseudo-expert in the topic of Hathaway, stemming from his role as the Oscar co-host with her in the epically sloppy awards ceremony of 2011.
“I'm happy to revisit this,” he said of the hosting woes. “But you're going to have to take the lead. She does not want me to talk about this, but OK.”
Putting the endlessly puzzling Hathaway hate phenomenon into mere sentences, Stern asked, “She comes off like the goody-two-shoe actress … It's fun to hate her even though she is a great actress … Is that accurate?”
“Yeah, I'm not an expert on Hathahaters,” said Franco, “but I think maybe that's what triggers it.”
